The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be the 22nd edition of the world’s most prestigious football tournament. It will be held from 21 November to 18 December, with 48 teams competing. It will be the first time that the competition has been hosted in the Middle East, and it will also mark a return to the winter schedule for the event after 1992 and 1994 in Europe.

- How do teams qualify?
Teams can qualify for the FIFA World Cup by advancing to the finals, or by being one of the best four runner-ups in their group. The teams will be placed into eight groups of four teams each. The top two teams in each group will advance to the round of 16 and then it’s a knockout tournament until you reach the final two teams.
- What’s the format?
The 22nd FIFA World Cup is the quadrennial international soccer tournament contested by the men’s national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It is scheduled to take place in Qatar from November 21, 2022 to December 18, 2020. The format is made up of two rounds and a knockout stage. The first round will be played as a home-and-away series, with each team hosting at least one game. In this round, the four teams play two matches each against their opponents.
- How many matches will be played?
The group stage will be played over eight days with each team playing three matches. The top two teams from each group will then progress to the knockout stage to play a further three matches, with the winner of the tournament being determined by a final match played in July.

The prize money is awarded by FIFA to the team that wins the tournament. For example, in the recent 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Germany received $35 million for their victory. There is a total of $576 million to be won in prize money, which will be split evenly between all 32 participating teams.
- What are the stadiums like?
The stadiums are set to be some of the best in the world, with 68,000 seats at Al Khor Stadium, 40,000 seats at Al Bayt Stadium, and 60,000 seats at Khalifa International Stadium. They will also feature improved sanitation facilities and electronic ticketing systems.
- When does the qualification end?
The qualification process will last until the end of 2020, with the host nation and four additional slots yet to be determined. The remaining 54 spots will be allocated as follows: 16 places for Africa, 14 for Asia, 13 for CONCACAF (the Confederation of North America, Central America and Caribbean Association Football), eight for Europe, and three for South America.
